The MTSNAC Shipyard Team (Conference Call) started at about 2:00 p.m., 4/25/05.
The purpose of the call was to discuss the presentation the Shipyard team will give at the next MTSNAC meeting in Sacramento, California. A quick survey of the group determined that the presentation was in order and that it did an adequate job of explaining the current state of affairs of shipyards in the United States. The presentation conveyed industry’s concern with MARAD, and how the agency is representing their interests. They acknowledged that funding was part of the problem. They also pointed out that MARAD’s charter includes the promotion of U.S. shipyards.
The Shipyard Team agreed that at next week’s MTSNAC meeting the team will convey their concerns in their presentation.
