Meet the New MTSNAC Members

John Baker John D. Baker's career with the International Longshoremen's Association, AFL-CIO ("ILA") spans nearly half a century. In July 2007 he was elected the ILA's Assistant General Organizer at the union's quadrennial convention. Prior to that, he served for 18 years as Vice President on the ILA Executive Council, representing the Great Lakes region. He has been the ILA Assistant Legislative Director representing Great Lakes Port and he has served on the ILA's Committee on Political Action Fund.  
Mark Barker Mark Barker, President, Interlake Steamship Company
Mr. Barker is the President of the Interlake Steamship Co. Mr. Barker has worked in various roles at Interlake Steamship starting off as an engineering officer onboard several vessels in the fleet. He came ashore in the capacity of a Fleet Engineer. Subsequently Mr. Barker was appointed to the coordinator for the Office of the Chairman and Superintendent of Engineering. More recently he has been appointed Treasurer of Interlake overseeing the banking relationships.  
Omar Benjamin Omar Benjamin was appointed by the Oakland Board of Port Commissioners as Executive Director of the Port of Oakland in February of 2007, and has responsibility for the administration and operations of the Port organization.

Mr. Benjamin is also the President of the California Association of Port Authorities (CAPA). CAPA represents the 11 California commercialized ports before the California legislature and Administration, and provides educational leadership and advocacy on issues such as transportation, trade, and subjects relating to port operations. In addition, Mr. Benjamin is also a member of the California Commission for Economic Development.  
Jerry Bridges Jerry A. Bridges was appointed Executive Director of the Virginia Port Authority (VPA) by the Board of Commissioners on November 28, 2006 and officially took office on February 5, 2007. Mr. Bridges is responsible for the broad programmatic areas of marketing, development, finance and promotion of Virginia's marine terminal facilities located in the Hampton Roads harbor - Newport News Marine Terminal, Norfolk International Terminals, and Portsmouth Marine Terminal, APMT Virginia, and the Virginia Inland Terminal located in Warren County, Virginia.  
Tim Byrd

During the past 25 years, Tim has held positions in manufacturing, technical and supply chain operations. Currently, he is Director for DuPont Global Logistics and Chairman for a DuPont joint venture, Sentinel Transportation, LLC. Immediately prior to his current role, Tim was plant manager at the DuPont Pencader performance polymers facility and Operations Leaders for DuPont Vespel. Tim has held global leadership positions in DuPont for 10 of the past 11 years.

Tim assumed his current role as Director, Global Logistics effective February 2010.  
Alice Cheng As Principal and Founder of Cheng Solutions, Alice Cheng brings over fifteen years of experience in transportation and industrial development implementation to public and private-sector clients. Relevant sample assignments include: Hugo Neu Corporation, senior staff and vice president of New York Economic Development Corporation, and as an economist for the Louis Berger Group.  
Genevieve Clifton Genevieve Boehm Clifton is the Acting Manager of the New Jersey Department of Transportation/Office of Maritime Resources. She has been active in NJ maritime issues since she was hired as part of the original team that formed the Office in 1997.

Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer

Tom Crowley Jr., Chairman, President and CEO of Crowley Maritime Corporation became CEO at the age of 27. The corporation is engaged in worldwide logistics, liner cargo services, contract towing and transportation, energy support, ship assist and escort, petroleum and chemical transportation, salvage and emergency response, vessel design/build technical services, fuel retailing in Western Alaska and ship management.

 
Judith Druskovich Judith Druskovich developed a new approach to digitally track certifications, cadet sea time and other measurable accomplishments required by Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) with software and database systems. Integral part of a team that successfully created and implemented an innovative admissions process. The process was changed from a manual, paper driven process to an efficient digital, "paperless" system.  
Sarah Dunham Sarah Dunham is currently the Director of U.S. EPA's Transportation and Regional Programs Division. The Division is responsible for managing the SmartWay Transport Partnership Program as well as EPA's diesel retrofit program. These programs work together to reduce the emissions, climate impact and fuel usage of goods movement activities at marine ports and terminals and on U.S highways and railroads.  
Gary Gallegos Gary Gallegos is the Executive Director of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG). He is a nationally recognized expert in the areas of transportation, land use, regional public policy making, and bi-national planning and diplomacy.

SANDAG is the research, planning, and transportation agency for the region. Agency policymakers are elected officials from each of the area's 18 cities and the county. SANDAG also plans, engineers, and builds regional public transit.

 
Fred Harris Appointed as President of General Dynamics NASSCO and Vice President of General Dynamics on January 1, 2006, Harris is credited with recovering and returning the U.S. Navy's T-AKE naval auxillary shipbuilding program to scheduled delivery and cost goals. Harris' willingness to seek out new methods of production and his recognition of the need to reach out to international shipbuilders to learn and apply best business practices has made NASSCO the shipyard of choice in the U.S.  
John Kaltenstein John Kaltenstein is Marine Program Manager for Friends of the Earth in San Francisco, California. He works to reduce environmental impacts including harmful air emissions, wastewater, and underwater noise associated with shipping at the regional, national, and international level. John leads Friends of the Earth International's delegation at the IMO, where he is currently engaged on Arctic shipping issues. He previously has worked for Oceana, the Marine Fish Conservation Network, and the Interamerican Association for Environmental Defense. He holds a J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, OR and a B.A. from Swarthmore College in Political Science.  
Richard Larrabee Richard M. Larrabee is the Director of the Port Commerce Department of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He oversees the management and operation of the major marine terminal facilities within the Port of New York and New Jersey, the largest port on the East Coast of North America, which handled 78 million metric tons of cargo in 2009, and approximately 4.6 million teu's (twenty-foot equivalent units).

 
Mark Locker Mark A. Locker, AICP - Mr. Locker currently is the Administrator, Office of Maritime, and Freight Mobility, with the Ohio Department of Transportation. This Office was created to serve as a champion for maritime, and a first in Ohio Transportation History. His team currently manages nine Maritime ARRA Stimulus Projects related to the Great Lakes and the Ohio River, the most of any state in the America.  
Jim Lyons James K. Lyons has served as Director/CEO of the Alabama State Port Authority Board, since July 1, 1999. Mr. Lyons' 36 year professional maritime industry career has encompassed marketing, financial management, transportation, stevedoring and terminal operations.  
Joseph Mabry Joseph M. (Mike) Mabry Jr. Executive Vice President of Logistics & Distribution - Mike Mabry was promoted to executive vice president of logistics and distribution in September 2004, after serving as senior vice president of distribution. Mabry joined the company in December 2003 after a 12-year career with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. He is responsible for overseeing Lowe's state-of-the-art logistics and distribution network that expedites the replenishment of merchandise and supplies to all Lowe's stores. During his tenure at Wal-Mart, Mabry served as vice president of global services. Mabry holds an M.B.A. from Oklahoma City University and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of North Alabama.  
Ron Mitchum Ron Mitchum has served as Executive Director of the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments (BCDCOG) since 1993. Prior to his appointment as Executive Director, he served as the Agency's Technical Assistance Manager, servicing a variety of programs on behalf of the Agency.  
David Moseley David Moseley is Assistant Secretary of the Washington State Department of Transportation Ferries Division. David is an experienced leader who has dedicated his 30-year career to public service.  
Michelle Noble Michelle is currently the North America International Trade Operations Leader which leads the multifunctional team responsible for managing all activities to facilitate North American imports and exports. Michelle has 15 years with P&G and has had various assignments in several locations.
 
Adolph Ojard Adolph Ojard was appointed executive director of the Duluth Seaway Port Authority in March 2003. A Great Lakes maritime and transportation veteran, he now serves as the Port Authority's chief executive officer. Ojard is currently president of the American Great Lakes Ports Association, serves as the Great Lakes representative on the AAPA Executive Committee and Legislative Policy Council, and chairs the Great Ships Initiative advisory committee. Ojard also serves on the executive committee of the University of Minnesota Center for Transportation Studies and the board of the Minnesota Agri-Growth Council, in addition to several community boards in Duluth.  
John Parrott In December of 2009, John Parrott was named President of TOTE. Prior to this appointment, John served as Vice President of Commercial where he was responsible for all sales, marketing, pricing and contract administration, as well as Alaska public policy work. John joined TOTE in June 2002 as the Alaska General Manager and was promoted in 2004 to the position of Vice President/General Manager.  
Craig Philip Craig Phillip is currently CEO of Ingram Industries Inc. leading Ingram’s barge and related marine transportation companies, one of the largest diversified inland marine carriers in the United States serving major international and domestic shippers of bulk commodities. Other businesses include marine terminals, bunkering and aggregate mining/sales.  
Jeffrey Platt Jeff is Chief Operations Officer of Tidewater Inc. responsible for overseeing the day-to-day marine operations of the Company, both domestically and internationally. Jeff is a 1979 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Electrical Engineering.  
Randy Richardson Randy is the Interim Executive Director of the Memphis and Shelby County Port Commission and the Deputy Director of the Memphis and Shelby County Port Commission.  
Thomas Simmers Mr. Simmers currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ceres Terminals, Inc. (Ceres). Ceres is a major stevedore and terminal operator on the East, Gulf and West Coasts of North America with operations in 23 ports. Based in East Brunswick, NJ, Ceres handles cargo in the container, auto, roll on roll off and cruise sectors of maritime trade. In 2009, Ceres handled over 3.2 million TEUs of containers, 400,000 Ro-Ro units and 4.S million cruise passengers. Ceres operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Harbour Division of the NYK Group.
 
Faye Stewart Ida Fate Stewart is the Owner of Faye Stewart Transportation Service, LLC. Ms. Stewart has garnered FSTS certification as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, a Woman Owned Business Enterprise, and a Small Business Enterprise with the United States Government, the City of Phoenix, the States of Arizona, California, New Mexico and Utah. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Trucking Association.  
Augie Tellez Augustin "Augie" Tellez is the executive vice president of the Seafarers International Union. He was appointed to that position in November 2005 by the SIU executive board.  
Margaret Vaughan Extensive experience in domestic and international procurement, materials management, and transportation / logistics for oil and gas: refining operations, offshore production facilities, floating production, storage, and off loading vessels (FPSO / FSO), CALM and SALM Buoys. Bilingual English / Spanish.
